Public Health Officer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Public Health Officer who will drive initiatives that promote healthy living and disease prevention in Bloemfontein. Your efforts will focus on community education, planning and conducting health screenings, and collaborating with local organizations to improve health services.

Responsibilities

• Lead community health education workshops and seminars.
• Collect and analyze data to inform health program development.
• Foster partnerships with local organizations to promote health initiatives.
• Conduct research on public health trends and best practices.
• Manage public health resources and budget effectively.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences or related field
• Master's degree in Public Health or Community Health is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in public health or health promotion roles

• Problem-solving

Certifications

• Certified Health Educator Specialist (CHES)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Sesotho: Conversational

Advantageous

• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans: Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Afrikaans.
• Previous experience in community engagement: Successful track record of engaging communities in health initiatives.
