Job Description

Join our passionate team as a Social Worker in Port Elizabeth. In this role, you will support individuals and families facing social challenges by providing direct services, assessments, and resources to improve their well-being.

Responsibilities

• Investigate reports of abuse and neglect in compliance with legal standards.
• Coordinate care with other professionals, including healthcare providers and educators.
• Utilize evidence-based practices to inform treatment planning.
• Advocate for community resources and policy changes to benefit clients.
• Build relationships with clients and their families to encourage participation in services.
• Provide emotional support and guidance during difficult situations.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards of practice.
• Facilitate peer support groups to foster community connections.
• Assess and address barriers to service access for clients.
• Document case notes and share progress with team members.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Human Services
• Master's degree in Social Work is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of direct service experience in social work

• Crisis Intervention

Certifications

• Certified Social Worker (CSW)
• Mental Health First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Xhosa: Conversational

Advantageous

• Experience with youth and family services: Background working with children and families in crisis situations.
