Job Description

As an Urban and Regional Planner, you will play a crucial role in developing land use plans and programs that help create communities, accommodate population growth, and revitalize physical facilities in towns, cities, and metropolitan areas. You will coordinate with stakeholders to ensure community needs are met through effective communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Research zoning laws and policies to guide development.
  • Manage urban planning databases and geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Assist in preparing budgets and funding applications for projects.
  • Organize and conduct public consultations and workshops.
  • Facilitate discussions among stakeholders to address planning challenges.
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations to enhance planning efforts.
  • Review development impacts and mitigate negative effects.
  • Stay updated on national and provincial planning regulations.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
  • Prepare presentations and materials for public hearings.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies or related field
  • Master's degree in Urban Planning is preferred
Experience
  • 4-6 years of experience in urban or regional planning
