Job Description

The Recreation Therapy Director will lead and oversee therapeutic recreational programs aimed at enhancing the physical, emotional, and social well-being of clients. This role requires a passionate leader who can develop innovative activities and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of client-specific treatment goals through recreation therapy.
  • Work with healthcare professionals to develop holistic treatment plans.
  • Coordinate group and individual activities that promote social interactions.
  • Evaluate the progress of clients and adapt therapeutic approaches accordingly.
  • Lead regular team meetings to discuss client care strategies and improvement.
  • Research new recreational therapy techniques and methodologies for ongoing program enhancement.
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and facilities during therapeutic activities.
  • Provide crisis intervention support when needed and develop risk management strategies.
  • Facilitate workshops and training for staff on therapeutic recreation principles.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's in Therapeutic Recreation or similar field
  • Postgraduate qualifications are preferred
Experience
  • At least 5 years of direct experience in recreational therapy, leading programs for diverse populations.
