Job Description

The Deputy Jailer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and security of the correctional facility. This includes overseeing daily operations, managing inmate interactions, and ensuring compliance with correctional standards. The role is ideal for individuals with strong leadership skills and the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions with staff.
  • Monitor inmate classification and adjust statuses as necessary.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the facility.
  • Manage conflict resolution among inmates.
  • Coordinate with external law enforcement and emergency services.
  • Assist with rehabilitation and reintegration programs for inmates.
  • Review and update operational policies as needed.

Requirements

Education
  • Matric certificate
  • Certification in Law Enforcement or Corrections
Experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a correctional setting
