Job Description

The Operating Room Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and ensuring patient safety during procedures. This position demands an individual adept at performing under pressure in a dynamic environment, ensuring all surgical operations run smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room, ensuring everything is sterile and in place.
  • Assist during surgical procedures by managing instruments and supplies.
  • Continuously monitor patient vitals and communicate any concerns to the surgical team.
  • Effectively clean and maintain all surgical tools and equipment.
  • Safely transport patients and assist with their recovery post-surgery.
  • Keep accurate records of surgical supplies and help maintain stock levels.
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines throughout all processes.
  • Provide care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
  • Document all patient interactions and surgical interventions.
  • Support other hospital departments when necessary.

Requirements

Education
  • Matric certificate or equivalent
  • Completion of a certified nursing assistant program or equivalent
Experience
  • No prior specific experience required; however, experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
