Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Underwriter to join our team in Durban. The successful candidate will evaluate insurance applications and determine appropriate coverage and premiums. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in underwriting principles are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate insurance applications and analyze risk factors.
• Determine policy premiums based on detailed assessments.
• Collaborate with the sales team to provide guidance on underwriting issues.
• Prepare and present underwriting reports to management.
• Advise clients on coverage options and risk management.
• Ensure adherence to company underwriting guidelines and compliance standards.
• Review claims to assess risk exposure.
• Maintain accurate records of applications and underwriting decisions.
• Provide training and support to junior underwriters as needed.
• Attend industry seminars and conferences to stay updated on underwriting trends.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Insurance, or a related field
• Professional underwriting certification preferred

Experience

• 3-5 years of underwriting experience in insurance
