Underwriter

Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Underwriter to join our team in Durban. The successful candidate will evaluate insurance applications and determine appropriate coverage and premiums. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in underwriting principles are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on new and existing policies.
• Review and adjust policy terms and conditions as required.
• Engage with clients to educate them on policy coverage and limitations.
• Monitor claims data to identify trends influencing pricing strategies.
• Assist in developing marketing materials that highlight underwriting capabilities.
• Participate in team meetings to strategize improvements in underwriting processes.
• Stay informed on legislative changes affecting insurance underwriting.
• Ensure a high level of customer service in all underwriting activities.
• Actively seek feedback from clients to improve service delivery.
• Develop productive relationships with external stakeholders for better business opportunities.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Insurance, or a related field
• Professional underwriting certification preferred

Experience

• 3-5 years of underwriting experience in insurance
