Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will assess risks and determine appropriate insurance policy terms. You'll play a crucial role in our underwriting process, ensuring that clients receive tailored coverage that meets their needs.

Responsibilities

• Identify and investigate potential fraud or risk indicators in applications.
• Collaborate on developing new insurance products that meet market demands.
• Utilize underwriting software to streamline application evaluation processes.
• Participate in meetings with management to discuss underwriting performance and strategies.
• Mentor and guide junior staff in underwriting principles and practices.
• Ensure timely communication with agents regarding underwriting decisions.
• Monitor and analyze the performance of underwritten policies.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Economics, or related field
• Advanced certification in underwriting preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry with a focus on underwriting
