Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join our dedicated team in Pietermaritzburg. In this role, you will provide comprehensive healthcare to various animals, conduct examinations, perform surgeries, and offer preventive care measures. The ideal candidate should possess an excellent bedside manner, strong communication skills, and a passion for animal care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed examinations on various animal species to assess health.
• Perform surgeries and other medical procedures as necessary.
• Develop treatment plans and provide preventative care recommendations.
• Work collaboratively with vet techs and support staff to provide quality care.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their animal's health.
• Stay updated on veterinary practices and advancements in animal medicine.
• Educate pet owners on pet care and health practices.
• Maintain accurate medical records for each animal treated.
• Participate in community outreach and educational programs.
• Supervise junior veterinarians and interns during their training.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine
• Registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC)

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in veterinary practice
