Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Durban. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications, provide excellent patient care, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications for patients under pharmacist supervision.
• Educate patients on medication use and potential side effects.
• Keep an up-to-date inventory of all pharmacy products.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams for better patient outcomes.
• Process insurance claims and manage patient billing.
• Support community health initiatives and screenings.
• Perform regular equipment checks and maintain pharmacy tools.

Requirements

Education

• BTech in Pharmacy or equivalent
• Registered with SAPC

Experience

• 3+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician

Technical Skills

• Compounding medications
• Drug interaction knowledge

Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Teamwork

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

Advantageous

• Prior experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy: Experience that is valuable for providing a broad range of pharmacy services.
• Familiarity with health insurance billing processes: Understanding of how to handle billing with various health insurance providers.
