Accountant

Job Description

An exciting opportunity is available for an Accountant in Cape Town. In this role, you'll oversee financial transactions, prepare monthly statements, and engage in tax compliance. This position is suited for proactive individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial documentation to ensure accuracy.
• Assist with the development of financial strategies.
• Monitor cash flow and perform cash management activities.
• Prepare detailed financial reports for senior management.
• Design and implement internal controls to safeguard assets.
• Assist with financial training and guidance for staff.
• Balance month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
• Develop training materials for internal accounting processes.
• Participate in financial modeling and forecasting.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant field
• Master's degree in Finance or related field is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in a similar finance role

Technical Skills

• Tax compliance
• Audit preparation
• Financial analysis

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving skills
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Professional body membership (e.g., SAIPA)
• CIA or equivalent certification preferred

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in financial modeling: Hands-on experience with constructing financial models for analysis.
• Knowledge of ERP systems: Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle Financials.
