Dockworker

Job Description

As a Dockworker, you will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating the loading and unloading of cargo ships. Your duties will ensure that all packages and containers are properly labeled and transported efficiently to their destination.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the training and supervision of less experienced dockworkers.
• Ensure compliance with all port and safety regulations.
• Identify and report any safety concerns or incidents to the supervisor promptly.
• Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as necessary to meet operational needs.

Requirements

Education

• Post-secondary qualification in Logistics or related field

Experience

• Experience in cargo management and logistics preferred.

Technical Skills

• Heavy Equipment Operation
• Safety Regulations Knowledge

Soft Skills

• Problem-Solving
• Reliability

Certifications

• Basic First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Intermediate

Advantageous

• Ability to speak multiple languages: Fluency in additional languages such as Xhosa or Zulu is advantageous.
• Experience in dealing with customs and border control agencies: Knowledge of customs processes and documentation is a plus.
