Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our surgical team in Durban. The successful candidate will provide expert care in the surgical treatment of thoracic and cardiovascular diseases, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and diagnose cardiothoracic conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Perform and supervise surgeries, ensuring optimal patient safety and care.
• Foster collaborative relationships with nursing and medical staff.
• Engage in community outreach to educate about heart health and surgical options.
• Document all procedures and patient interactions accurately.

Requirements

Education

• MBChB or equivalent medical degree
• Board certification in cardiothoracic surgery is an advantage

Experience

• 7+ years of advanced surgical experience

Technical Skills

• Robotic surgery experience
• Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)

Soft Skills

• Strategic thinking
• Empathy

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

• Fluency in multiple languages: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient demographics.
• Experience in teaching or mentoring: Proven experience guiding junior surgical staff and interns.
