Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Certified Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of substance abuse, addiction, and recovery, and will be dedicated to helping individuals overcome these challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate therapeutic groups focused on recovery and coping skills.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments of client needs.
  • Develop and implement individual treatment plans.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment as needed.
  • Provide education about substance abuse and recovery to clients and families.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care.
  • Document and maintain case notes and progress reports.
  • Assist clients in building support systems post-treatment.
  • Actively participate in continuous professional development.
  • Educate community resources and services available to clients.

Requirements

Education
  • Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor from an accredited institution
  • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in substance abuse treatment is required.
