Telecommunications Line Installer and Repairer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Utility Locator to effectively identify and mark underground utilities, including telecommunications, gas, and water lines. The successful candidate will ensure precise mapping to prevent utility damage and facilitate smooth excavation processes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough site surveys to gather comprehensive data about utility locations.
• Utilize advanced technology for accurate utility mapping.
• Document utility positions and ensure clarity for project teams.
• Facilitate communication with contractors regarding utility identification.
• Strictly adhere to safety protocols and operational procedures.
• Oversee the maintenance and calibration of locating equipment.
• Create detailed reports of utility findings for project records.
• Assist in training new staff in utility locating techniques.
• Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Professional or technical certification in utility locating (preferred)

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in utility locating

Technical Skills

• Electromagnetic equipment operation
• GPS and GIS software

Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Effective communication

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in construction or excavation: Background in construction or excavation projects preferred.
• Additional technical certifications: Other relevant certifications will be considered an asset.
