Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and a passion for innovation. You will play a crucial role in developing new products from concept to completion, ensuring they meet high standards of performance and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead design projects from initial concept through to completion.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for mechanical designs.
• Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials.
• Develop and maintain design documentation and reports.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovations.
• Ensure all designs meet regulatory compliance and industry standards.
• Coordinate with project managers to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• MBA or Master’s in Engineering Management is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design with a focus on consumer products

Technical Skills

• 3D CAD Software
• Prototyping Techniques

• Lean Six Sigma Certification
• Project Management Professional (PMP)

Languages

• English: Fluent
