Job Description

As a Blockman at Butchers Delight, you will play a vital role in the preparation and presentation of our meat products. Your responsibilities will include cutting, trimming, and ensuring hygiene standards in a bustling environment where teamwork is essential. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for food and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various meat cuts and ensure they meet quality standards.
• Answer customer questions about meat selection and preparation methods.
• Assist in cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment regularly.
• Track inventory levels and assist in maintaining stock control.
• Support team members during peak hours and busy periods.
• Perform quality checks on meat products before sale.
• Engage in ongoing training to enhance cutting techniques and product knowledge.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 10 or higher
• Formal training as a Blockman or Butchery Assistant is advantageous

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Blockman or Deli assistant

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of meat cuts and preparation methods
• Attention to detail

Soft Skills

• Customer service
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Food hygiene certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with butchery equipment: Familiarity with using equipment such as slicers, grinders, and saws.
• Inventory management experience: Experience in managing stock levels and ordering supplies.
