Job Description

We are seeking an Insurance Underwriter with a strong analytical mindset to evaluate insurance applications and assess risk. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of underwriting guidelines and a passion for delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare risk reports and provide recommendations for coverage.
• Analyze claims data to identify trends and potential issues.
• Work with actuaries to establish pricing models for new products.
• Participate in audits and reviews of underwriting practices.
• Stay updated on changes in insurance regulations and practices.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, or related field
• Advanced degree is desirable

Experience

• 5 years of experience in the insurance industry with focus on underwriting

• Policy Analysis

• Negotiation
• Problem Solving

Certifications

• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)
• Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of local and international insurance markets: Experience in handling diverse insurance products.
• Fluency in additional South African languages: Ability to communicate with clients in Afrikaans or Zulu is a plus.
