Acute Care Nurses

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Acute Care Nurse to join our team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assessing patients undergoing cardiac procedures, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and ensuring optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed assessments of patients' cardiac health status.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
• Prepare and administer prescribed medications and therapies.
• Document clinical findings in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Advocate for patients' needs and preferences during care.
• Assist in procedures and provide direct support to the surgical team.
• Monitor and manage patient vital signs and parameters.
• Foster a supportive environment for patients and families.
• Educate nursing students and junior staff as needed.

Requirements

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in South Africa
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or equivalent

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiac interventional care

Technical Skills

• Cardiac Monitoring Equipment
• Intravenous Therapy
• Patient Assessment

Certifications

• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Specialized training in cardiac interventional care

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with PCI procedures: Knowledge and hands-on experience with percutaneous coronary interventions.
• Certifications in Cardiology Nursing: Additional certifications in cardiology nursing to enhance clinical expertise.
• Experience with EMR systems: Familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as Epic or Cerner.
