Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Johannesburg office. The ideal candidate will work on exciting engineering projects, developing designs and solutions that meet client requirements whilst ensuring efficiency and functionality.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems and components to meet project specifications.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for engineering designs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to determine project requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and specifications.
• Assist with the testing and evaluation of mechanical systems.
• Optimize existing engineering processes to improve efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Provide technical support during project execution.
• Evaluate and select materials and manufacturing processes.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years in a mechanical engineering design role

Technical Skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Manufacturing Processes

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Communication

Certifications

• Certified Six Sigma Green Belt
• Lean Manufacturing Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles: Knowledge in optimizing processes using Lean principles.
• Proficiency in programming languages (Python, MATLAB): Experience with coding for engineering applications.
