Trademark Advisor

Job Description

We are seeking a Trademark Advisor to join our Johannesburg office. In this role, you'll provide expert guidance on trademark registrations and manage our clients' intellectual property portfolios. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of South African IP law, and have a proven track record in managing trademark disputes.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with all aspects of trademark law.
• Analyze and provide recommendations on IP portfolio management.
• Represent clients in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings.
• Perform due diligence in mergers and acquisitions related to IP.
• Maintain and update client records and databases.
• Work closely with international counterparts on cross-border trademark issues.
• Ensure compliance with local and international IP regulations.
• Negotiate settlements in trademark disputes as required.
• Provide updates and reports to clients on ongoing matters.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Law
• Master's degree in Intellectual Property Law is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in intellectual property or trademark law
