Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Cape Town office to lead projects in designing and implementing mechanical systems. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of engineering principles and be able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development initiatives for mechanical components.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems.
• Conduct mechanical failure analysis on existing systems.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to management.
• Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
• Review project plans and specifications.
• Maintain technical knowledge through continued education.
• Support sustainability and green engineering initiatives.
• Liaise with external stakeholders regarding project progress.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Master's degree preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis

Technical Skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Thermal Analysis

Soft Skills

• Analytical Skills
• Leadership

Certifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with project management tools: Familiarity with project management software like MS Project or Jira.
• Knowledge of industry regulations and standards: Familiarity with local and international engineering standards.
