Job Description

Join our team as an Actuary in Durban, where you will be responsible for analyzing financial risks using mathematics, statistics, and financial theory. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to provide insights and solutions that guide strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Develop predictive models to assess risk and inform insurance pricing.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Audit and improve existing actuarial processes and methodologies.
• Work on cross-functional projects that require actuarial input.
• Provide insights on impact of economic conditions on financial results.
• Review and enhance internal controls related to actuarial processes.
• Carry out training sessions for staff on actuarial principles and practices.
• Participate in external audits and regulatory reporting.
• Engage with industry bodies to stay updated on emerging trends.
• Prepare and present findings to management and stakeholders.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Actuarial Science or a related field
• PhD preferred, especially for advanced modeling roles

Experience

• 5 years or more in a relevant actuarial position

Technical Skills

• Advanced Statistical Modeling
• Actuarial Software (e.g., Prophet, Moses)

Soft Skills

• Leadership

Certifications

• Certified Actuarial Analyst (CAA)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Conversational
