Job Description

Join our team in Durban as a Legal Counsel where you will provide expert legal guidance on various matters, ensuring compliance with legal standards and assisting in contract negotiations. The successful candidate will be proactive in identifying legal risks and advising on best practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with legal standards.
• Assist in mergers and acquisitions from a legal perspective.
• Prepare legal documents for regulatory submissions.
• Negotiate terms with clients and suppliers.
• Advise on intellectual property issues as required.

Requirements

Education

• LLB or equivalent law degree
• Master's degree in Law is an advantage

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in legal advisory positions

Technical Skills

• Risk Management
• Intellectual Property Law

Soft Skills

• Detail-oriented
• Interpersonal Skills

Certifications

• Compliance Certification from an accredited body

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

Advantageous

• Previous experience in litigation: Experience with cases in the South African courts.
• Familiarity with environmental law: Understanding of legal regulations in environmental sectors.
