Job Description

As a Grand Scribe, you will record and preserve vital historical information concerning South African culture and heritage. The role involves detailed research, collaboration with various departments, and maintaining archives.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and preserve important documents and records of cultural significance.
  • Lead efforts in historical research, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Document findings and produce well-researched reports for dissemination.
  • Develop and maintain an archive management strategy to ensure data longevity.
  • Collaborate with educational institutions to promote historical literacy.
  • Engage in continuous professional development in archiving and historical research.
  • Contribute to community engagement initiatives and historical projects.
  • Network with other cultural organizations to enhance collaborative efforts.
  • Assist in the digitization of archives for easier accessibility.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive historical information.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Cultural Studies, History, or Library Science
  • Master's degree is a plus
