Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Insurance Underwriter to join our Johannesburg office. The successful candidate will evaluate insurance applications, determine risks, and establish appropriate coverage terms for clients. This role is critical to ensuring the financial health and risk management of our portfolio. Candidates should have a robust understanding of underwriting principles and excellent analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate insurance applications and prepare risk assessments.
• Set underwriting guidelines and policy terms based on risk analysis.
• Maintain detailed records of underwriting decisions and processes.
• Communicate with clients to explain coverage and answer queries.
• Collaborate with claim adjusters and other team members on common cases.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Insurance related field

Experience

• 5+ years experience in underwriting within the insurance industry

• Underwriting Software Proficiency

Certifications

• Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII)

Languages

• English: Fluent
