Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to join our Durban office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, as well as handling complex legal issues faced by our clients.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with external legal consultants and advisors.
• Conduct risk assessments and advise on risk management.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the legal field.
• Facilitate mergers and acquisitions from a legal perspective.
• Engage in negotiations with clients and partners.

Requirements

Education

• LLB or equivalent
• Advocate Certification is a plus

Experience

• 6+ years in legal counsel or compliance roles

Technical Skills

• Contract Law
• Corporate Governance

Soft Skills

• Interpersonal Skills
• Critical Thinking

Certifications

• Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)
• Certification in Corporate Governance is a bonus

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

• Experience in Litigation: Hands-on experience in litigation will be beneficial.
• Knowledge of Intellectual Property Law: Understanding of intellectual property law principles.
