Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Hospitalist to join our committed medical team. The ideal candidate will excel in diagnosing and treating a variety of illnesses and collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient consultations to accurately diagnose conditions.
• Prescribe necessary medications and treatments.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and make adjustments as needed.
• Engage in continual learning to incorporate new medical knowledge into practice.
• Support junior medical staff and medical students during their training.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care.
• Manage medical emergencies promptly and effectively.
• Participate in hospital committees to improve quality of care.
• Lead patient case discussions in multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Assist in the development of hospital protocols and policies.

Requirements

Education

• MBChB or equivalent qualification
• Additional training in hospital medicine is preferred.

Experience

• Experience in a primary care setting preferred.

Technical Skills

• Medical imaging interpretation
• Patient management

Soft Skills

• Time management
• Leadership

Certifications

• HPCSA registration
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

Advantageous

• Experience with EHR systems like Meditech: Hands-on experience with popular EHR platforms.
• Prior leadership experience: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex patient care scenarios.
