Job Description

We are seeking an Urban Planner to help shape the future of urban spaces in Cape Town. In this role, you will be responsible for developing plans and programs for land use in urban areas, ensuring sustainable development and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze urban development trends to guide planning initiatives.
  • Coordinate with multiple departments for integrated urban planning.
  • Design and implement urban renewal projects that enhance community assets.
  • Facilitate workshops to engage residents in urban planning processes.
  • Produce large-scale urban planning documents and presentations.
  • Manage and lead a team of junior planners and interns.
  • Research funding opportunities for urban development projects.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on urban planning legislation.
  • Assess public feedback and adapt planning proposals accordingly.
  • Promote sustainable transportation and infrastructure solutions.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies or related field
  • Master's degree preferred
Experience
  • 5+ years in urban planning or related roles
