IT Support Technician

Job Description

We are on the lookout for an IT Support Technician who will deliver effective technical support to staff and clients in Port Elizabeth. This role involves troubleshooting IT-related issues, maintaining computer systems, and providing outstanding customer service. A proactive attitude and a keen eye for detail are essential.

Responsibilities

• Resolve technical issues for end-users in a timely manner.
• Set up and install computer systems and peripherals for new users.
• Assist with training users on software and hardware functionalities.
• Ensure data backups and system recovery processes are in place.
• Conduct regular system performance checks and updates.
• Communicate effectively with users to understand their technical concerns.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

Experience

• 2-3 years of experience in a technical support role

Technical Skills

• Linux
• Remote Support Tools

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Teamwork

Certifications

• ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with IT project management: Experience or knowledge in managing small IT projects would be beneficial.
• Language skills in Afrikaans or Xhosa: Proficiency in additional languages is an advantage in this role.
