Job Description

We are on the lookout for a proactive Insurance Underwriter to enhance our underwriting team in Durban. As an integral part of the team, you will be responsible for evaluating risk, developing insurance policies, and communicating with clients to provide exceptional service. Responsibilities

• Review and assess insurance applications and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Calculate risks and determine coverage terms by analyzing data from applications.
• Collaborate with agents and clients to obtain additional information as needed.
• Prepare and issue insurance policies with appropriate terms and conditions.
• Monitor and evaluate ongoing risks and renewals.
• Provide reports on underwriting activities and trends.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Continuously update knowledge of industry trends and underwriting practices.
• Train and mentor junior underwriters and support staff.
• Participate in strategy meetings to discuss underwriting guidelines and risk assessment.
• Handle claims and liaise with claims departments as necessary.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, or a related field

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in insurance underwriting or related fields
