Irrigation Supervisor

Job Description

As an Irrigation Supervisor, you will be at the forefront of overseeing the planning, installation, and maintenance of irrigation systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in irrigation systems and the ability to effectively manage a team.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive irrigation plans tailored to crop requirements.
• Oversee and ensure smooth execution of system installations and repairs.
• Direct and train team members on best practices and operational procedures.
• Evaluate and refine irrigation schedules for different crops.
• Perform routine inspections to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Research innovative irrigation technologies for potential adoption.
• Maintain detailed records of water usage and system adjustments.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures for the team.
• Prepare and present reports on irrigation strategies and outcomes.
• Collaborate with external vendors and consultants for equipment and system upgrades.

Requirements

Education

• Higher qualification in Agriculture or Irrigation Engineering is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years' experience related to agriculture or irrigation

Technical Skills

• Experience with drip irrigation systems
• Proficiency in using GPS mapping software

Soft Skills

• Ability to work under pressure
• Strong leadership skills

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of South African farming practices: Familiarity with local crops and irrigation needs.
• Experience working with sustainable irrigation practices: Understanding of eco-friendly irrigation methods.
