Dance Instructor

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Dance Instructor to teach various dance styles to students of all ages. The ideal candidate will create engaging lesson plans, choreograph routines, and inspire students while maintaining a positive and safe learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate classes for students aged 5 to 50 in various dance genres.
• Encourage creativity and expression in dance through innovative teaching methods.
• Oversee rehearsals for performances and competitions.
• Collaborate with other instructors to design performance pieces.
• Evaluate student progress and provide guidance for improvement.
• Organize and promote dance workshops and community events.
• Engage with parents regarding student development and opportunities.
• Participate in team-building activities to enhance studio culture.
• Provide mentorship to junior instructors or teacher assistants.
• Stay updated with the latest trends in dance and education.

Requirements

Education

• Professional dance training or certification
• Teaching qualification or certification (e.g., PGCE or Dance Teaching Diploma)

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching dance

Technical Skills

• Dance techniques in various styles
• Choreography

Soft Skills

• Communication

Certifications

• First Aid Certification
• Clear criminal record

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Basic

Advantageous

• Ability to play a musical instrument: Experience in accompanying dance classes with live music.
• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans: Ability to communicate in both languages for better student engagement.
