Mechanical Technician

Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated Mechanical Technician to join our team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in mechanical systems, with a strong understanding of maintenance, assembly, and troubleshooting. You will be integral in ensuring that our machinery operates efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Maintain mechanical systems and machinery to ensure optimal function.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures promptly.
• Help in the installation of new machinery and systems.
• Keep a detailed log of maintenance activities for compliance.
• Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot complex problems.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures.
• Mentor junior technicians and assist in their development.
• Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures.

Requirements

Education

• National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred

Experience

• 4-6 years of experience in a similar mechanical technician role

• ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certificate
• First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Xhosa: Basic

Advantageous

• Experience with hydraulic systems: Knowledge and experience with the installation and maintenance of hydraulic systems.
• Project Management experience: Familiarity with managing small projects related to mechanical engineering.
