Operating Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Operating Engineer to oversee and manage waste disposal operations at our site. The successful candidate will ensure safe and efficient waste management practices while operating and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead site operations with a focus on safety and compliance.
• Manage the logistics of waste disposal, including loading and unloading.
• Evaluate and improve waste management procedures.
• Participate in community outreach programs to promote recycling.
• Create reports on waste management activities for management review.
• Work with environmental agencies to ensure regulations are met.
• Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on operations.
• Assist in preparing the waste management budget.
• Facilitate communication between operations and management.
• Help develop policies focused on sustainability and waste reduction.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Waste Management or related field
• Trade qualification in construction equipment operation is preferred.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in waste management operations.

Certifications

• Health and Safety Certification
• First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Basic

Advantageous

• Familiarity with recycling processes: Knowledge of how to effectively segregate waste for recycling.
• Driver's License with Code EC: Preferred qualification for operating larger vehicles.
