Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing engineering solutions, working collaboratively with other engineers and departments. The role involves various stages of project development, from conceptualisation to execution and support.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the mechanical design process and undertake design calculations.
• Evaluate and recommend changes to existing processes to improve efficiency.
• Work closely with clients to understand project requirements.
• Train and mentor junior engineering staff.
• Manage budget and resource allocation for projects.
• Report on project progress and outcomes to senior management.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Master's degree preferred

Experience

• 5-7 years of relevant experience

Technical Skills

• AutoCAD
• Thermodynamics
• Lean Manufacturing

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Interpersonal Skills

Certifications

• Six Sigma Certification
• Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with PLCs: Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and automation.
• Experience in product development: Background in product development and commercialization.
