Pastoral Counselor

Job Description

We're searching for a compassionate Pastoral Counselor to offer spiritual guidance and counseling to individuals, families, and communities. The successful candidate will assist clients in coping with emotional, mental, and relationship challenges by integrating psychological principles with spiritual beliefs.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate workshops and support groups focusing on spiritual growth.
• Guide clients in finding meaning and purpose through spirituality.
• Actively listen and provide support to clients during crisis situations.
• Work closely with community organizations to provide outreach services.
• Document and monitor client progress towards treatment goals.
• Engage in continuous professional development and training.
• Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field
• Master’s degree in Counseling or Pastoral Care preferred

Experience

• 3+ years working with diverse populations in a counseling role

Technical Skills

• Psychological theories and therapeutic approaches
• Crisis intervention skills

Soft Skills

• Team collaboration
• Ethical judgment

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

Advantageous

• Experience in group therapy settings: Background in facilitating or leading group counseling sessions.
