Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Corporate Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team in Durban. The successful candidate will handle various corporate law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, compliance, and contract negotiations. You will be responsible for providing legal advice to clients and ensuring robust legal support within the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on a range of corporate issues including compliance and risk management.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of corporate documents for compliance purposes.
  • Conduct research on industry laws and regulations.
  • Advise clients on corporate governance best practices.
  • Support internal teams in resolving legal matters efficiently.
  • Remain knowledgeable on changes to laws and regulations affecting corporate clients.
  • Manage and supervise junior legal staff as needed.
  • Engage with external regulatory bodies on behalf of clients.
  • Lead client meetings and presentations effectively.

Requirements

Education
  • LLB or equivalent degree in Law
  • Admission as an attorney in South Africa
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate law, ideally within a law firm setting.
