Job Description

As a Donkey Engine Fireman, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing steam-driven donkey engines that power various machinery on the farm. This role is crucial in ensuring the optimal performance of our equipment and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergencies related to donkey engines promptly.
  • Maintain fire suppression equipment and ensure it is tested regularly.
  • Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans.
  • Identify and assess potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Support the maintenance and operations teams as required.
  • Participate in safety drills and training sessions.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and recommend solutions.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed diligently.

Requirements

Education
  • Matric Certificate or equivalent
  • Trade certificate in mechanical or electrical engineering
Experience
  • Experience in farming or agriculture is advantageous
Technical Skills
  • Basic electrical knowledge

Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience in carpentry and construction: Basic skills in carpentry useful for maintenance tasks.
