Legal Advisor

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Legal Advisor to join our Durban office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate law and compliance, providing legal guidance to clients and supporting various legal functions within the firm.

Responsibilities

• Guide clients through the legal implications of transaction structures.
• Prepare and manage legal documentation required for various business processes.
• Evaluate and mitigate legal risks in client business operations.
• Engage with external regulators and legal authorities on behalf of clients.
• Develop and implement compliance protocols and guidelines.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate matters.
• Prepare reports for management and stakeholders on legal issues.
• Assist in training staff on compliance and legal policies.
• Conduct market research on compliance best practices.
• Lead internal legal audits to evaluate compliance and legal risk.

Requirements

Education

• LLB or equivalent qualification in law
• Legal Practice Course (LPC) or similar is preferred

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in legal advisory roles

• Familiarity with data protection laws: Knowledgeable on data protection regulations such as POPIA.
