Job Description

We are looking for a meticulous Food Safety Specialist to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in food safety regulations and quality management systems. You will play a crucial role in identifying risks, implementing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance across all operations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct food safety audits and assess compliance with established guidelines.
• Design and facilitate training sessions on food safety for staff.
• Review and update safety protocols to align with regulations.
• Investigate and report food safety incidents and non-compliance.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure integrated safety practices.
• Keep abreast of new developments in food safety legislation.
• Prepare regular reports on food safety activities and compliance status.
• Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or relevant field
• Master's degree in Food Safety Management preferred

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in a food safety role

Technical Skills

• Food Safety Auditing

Certifications

• ServSafe Certification
• NEHA Certified Professional Food Manager

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

Advantageous

• Experience in a manufacturing environment: Prior experience in implementing safety practices in food manufacturing.
• Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices): Knowledge of GMP standards and their application in food production.
