Mining Safety Officer

Job Description

We are on the lookout for a detail-oriented Mining Safety Officer to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, conducting safety audits, and fostering a culture of safety within the mining operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining safety management systems.
• Organize safety workshops and informational sessions for staff.
• Promote initiatives to enhance workplace safety culture.
• Identify trends in safety data and recommend strategic improvements.
• Work closely with site managers to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Respond to safety emergencies and assist in incident response operations.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety or related field
• Postgraduate qualifications in Health and Safety are advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in mining safety roles

Technical Skills

• Safety Management Systems
• Emergency Response Planning

Soft Skills

• Analytical skills
• Interpersonal skills

Certifications

• NEBOSH IGC or equivalent
• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
