Fabrication Technician

Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled Fabrication Technician to join our dedicated team in Durban. The ideal candidate will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings and executing fabrication processes with precision and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality production standards.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings to perform fabrication tasks.
• Utilize welding and cutting equipment effectively for fabricating components.
• Ensure that all safety measures are followed in the fabrication process.
• Perform quality checks on fabricated products to confirm they meet specifications.
• Identify and report any discrepancies or quality issues.
• Work closely with other technicians to coordinate fabrication activities.
• Maintain fabrication equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss production goals and challenges.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the production process.
• Assist with training new fabricators and impart relevant skills.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Trade Certification preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in fabrication or manufacturing roles

Technical Skills

• CNC Operation
• Fabrication Software Proficiency

Soft Skills

• Adaptability

Certifications

• Lean Manufacturing Certification
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with CAD Software: Proficient in using CAD software for design and fabrication.
• Lean Six Sigma Certification: Certified in Lean Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.
