Job Description

A Prep Cook, also known as a Preparatory Cook, is responsible for assisting in food preparation tasks, ensuring ingredients are readily available, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients as per recipes, ensuring they are ready for cooking.
  • Maintain an organised and clean kitchen environment.
  • Assist with inventory control and proper storage of food items.
  • Follow health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Support the head chef in executing daily menus and special events.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Participate in training sessions to improve culinary skills.
  • Monitor food quality and report any issues immediately.
  • Keep up to date with current food trends and techniques.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Certificate or diploma in culinary arts preferred
Experience
  • Experience in high-volume kitchens is desirable
