Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components for various projects. You will work closely with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects from conception through to execution.
• Verify that designs meet operational requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on engineering projects.
• Prepare proposals and cost estimates for engineering projects.
• Conduct materials selection and testing.
• Implement changes based on testing results.
• Assist in the development of project timelines.
• Monitor project expenses and budgets.
• Provide technical support during installation and commissioning.
• Document project outcomes and suggest next steps.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on design and development

Technical Skills

• 3D Modelling Software (CATIA, SolidWorks)
• Manufacturing Processes

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving

Certifications

• Lean Six Sigma Certification
• Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of robotics: Experience with robotic systems and their integration into mechanical engineering projects.
• Understanding of HVAC systems: Basic knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
