Donor Relations Manager

Job Description

The Donor Relations Manager will take charge of cultivating and maintaining relationships with our generous donors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to engage and promote donor stewardship while ensuring that contributions are managed effectively.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive donor relations programs and strategies.
• Research and identify potential donors and solicit their support.
• Create and execute fundraising campaigns in collaboration with internal teams.
• Manage donor recognition efforts, including personalized acknowledgment.
• Analyze donor data to inform strategic decisions.
• Plan and host donor engagement events and meetings effectively.
• Ensure adherence to fundraising regulations and ethical standards.
• Provide training and support to staff involved in donor relations.
• Keep abreast of trends and best practices in donor relations.
• Foster a culture of gratitude within the organization.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. business, communications, public relations)

Experience

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in donor relations or similar roles

Technical Skills

• Familiarity with fundraising events and campaigns
• Knowledge of the South African donor landscape

Soft Skills

• Strong organizational skills
• Commitment to the organization's mission and values

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Proficiency in additional languages: Ability to communicate in languages other than English is advantageous.
• Experience in a non-profit organization: Familiarity with non-profit operational structures and culture.
