Drayage Truck Driver

Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated Drayage Truck Driver to join our operations in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods between ports, rail yards, and warehouses, ensuring timely and safe deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Secure cargo according to safety guidelines.
• Operate electronic logging devices to record hours of service.
• Keep updated on local roadways and traffic patterns.
• Practice defensive driving techniques to ensure safety.
• Collaborate with team members to streamline delivery processes.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck and equipment.
• Assist in training new drivers as needed.
• Handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
• Participate in safety briefings and training sessions.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years experience in logistics driving

Technical Skills

• Valid Code 14 driver's license
• Electrical logging devices operation

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Teamwork

Certifications

• First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with refrigerated cargo: Knowledge and experience in handling temperature-sensitive cargo.
• Strong knowledge of local transportation laws: Comprehensive understanding of local and national traffic laws relevant to logistics.
