School Nurse

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated School Nurse to provide medical care and support to our students. You will play a crucial role in promoting health education and wellness while managing the school's health services.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications as per school policy and medical orders.
• Keep detailed records of student health services and medication administration.
• Collaborate with teachers to develop health education programs.
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding students' health and wellbeing.
• Ensure a safe and healthy school environment for all students and staff.

Requirements

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification
• Valid license to practice in South Africa
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid
• Diploma or degree in Nursing

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience (preferably in a school or pediatric setting)

Technical Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of basic medical procedures and first aid
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive medical information

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
• Compassion and patience in dealing with students
• Excellent time management and organizational skills

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Conversational

Advantageous

• Experience working with children and teenagers: Prior experience in a school setting dealing with adolescent healthcare.
• Familiarity with South African healthcare regulations and policies: Understanding of local healthcare systems and school health policies.
• Ability to conduct health screenings and assessments: Experience in evaluating students' health conditions.
