Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice, manage contracts, and ensure compliance with South African laws and regulations. Familiarity with corporate law, employment law, and regulatory affairs is essential.

Responsibilities

• Offer strategic legal counsel on business initiatives and corporate strategies.
• Review and update company policies to align with legal standards.
• Manage and oversee any ongoing litigation cases.
• Conduct risk assessments and compliance audits to mitigate legal risks.
• Provide input on corporate governance matters.
• Collaborate with the HR department on employment law matters.
• Keep abreast of changes in legislation affecting the company's operations.

Requirements

Education

• LLB or equivalent law degree
• Postgraduate degree in Law is an advantage

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in-house or at a law firm

Certifications

• Specialist Accreditation in Labour Law
• Compliance Officer Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic
