Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Structural Engineer to join our Port Elizabeth team. As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of various structures. The ideal candidate should possess extensive knowledge of engineering principles and local building codes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies for new projects.
• Utilize computer modeling software to visualize structures.
• Ensure the structural safety of existing structures through assessments.
• Participate in value engineering to optimize design costs.
• Prepare bids and proposals for potential projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
• Engage with clients to understand project requirements and expectations.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in structural engineering roles

Technical Skills

• ETABS
• Civil 3D

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Leadership

Certifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng)
• Six Sigma Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Hands-on experience with site management: Practical knowledge in site management for construction projects.
• Proficiency in structural optimization techniques: Expertise in optimizing structural designs for cost and efficiency.
